Final Pieces Updated.
In this final version of my Front Cover I have changes the brightness of the main image by bringing it down to a good level. i had also changed the placement of the coverlines which i have put a black outline on; the coverline slightly thicker to how it was originally, so the words to not fade into the background and become difficult to read.
In this final version of my Content page I have changed the level brightness of the main image at the top and have bought it down to a good amount.
In this final version of my double page spread i have not changed anything as i am happy with the overall look of the pages.

Double Page Spread Construction #5.
In this final updated version of my double page spread i have changed the tone of red used on the text to a brighter tone because i felt the other red faded into the black background and could not be read very well. I have also put a credit to the journalist and photographer because i have seen this used in other music magazines and have fixed the layout a little bit more than in the last version.

Double Page Spread Construction #4.
In this updated version of my double page spread I have removed the white boxes beneath the text because I felt the boxes didn't look quite right. I have also fixed the positioning of the text to be in line which each other to look neater and i edited the text i have used by correcting some spelling mistakes or adding new words in. I have also placed the magazine name next the page number as i have seen other magazines do so and i have decided to do it also. I have also added another image from my photo shoot at the bottom to complete the page as i felt another image was needed. However i am going to change the colour of the answered questions as the tone of red doesn't stand out to well with the black background.

Album Cover.
This is the original album artwork I was given as a basis from the band to use for an album cover, however i redesigned the cover into the image below and have decided to use this as the artwork for 'Kingg Pleasuree II because its better looking due to the tone down of the bright green and other colours.

QR Code
I decided to use a QR code on my double page spread as a link to listen to the bands work on the unplugged website as well as posting the link to make my magazine feature friendly to other forms of media such as smart phones. The QR code will allow the Smart phone such as a iPhone or a Blackberry to be taken to the site and listen to the album in a few seconds and because it is also mobile.
Double Page Spread Construction #3.
Double Page Spread Construction #2.
In this updated version i have added the individual images of the band to inform the reader of each members name and which role within the band they have. I have also provided an advertisement to listen to the bands new album which will be titled 'Kingg Pleasuree II' I have put a link to the web-adress and a QR code which the reader can scan using their smart phone. I have also given the page a titled and a sub heading that reads 'Side Projects, Smashing the Mainstream and 'Kingg Pleasuree II' i have done this to inform the reader of what topics will be mentioned in the article beneath. in this update i have also begun to add the article on the double page spread. I will spilt the article in to 3 columns and will have a pull quote in the middle of the 2nd column.

Journalistic Writing.
Kingg
Pleasuree in their short career have already been dubbed the next ‘Sonic
Youth’. With their mainstream success of their self-titled album ‘Kingg
Pleasuree’ they have already began to revive good old fashion hard-core punk
with a dashing of grunge and heavy sound pollution influencing smaller bands to
follow in their footsteps. However the band uniquely describe themselves as
‘Noise’ influenced by the musical styling of such bands as Sonic Youth, The
Pixies, My Bloody Valentine, Bad Brains and Velvet Underground. Formed in 2009
the bands whirlwind career has seen them play around the world and gained
worldwide recognition. This week the band took time out of their busy schedule
to come and speak to us.
First of
all I would like to thank you all, I know you’re all very But lets get to the
questions. How do you like being a household name?
B: “well…If
we’re being honest.. i think I prefer it when we were a underground band, BUT
only because it’s a special link you have between you and your fans. It’s a great
connection as you’re a part of something exclusive, kind of like we all sharing
the same great secret, but when you become popular it’s not a secret anymore,
or at least more people are aware of it, so the bond between the special few
who have been there since you started and have supported you through the
journey from underground to mainstream is gone, though im not saying we don’t
like the masses of new fans, its still great to have your music out there and
people enjoying it.”
Right, and
how are you all dealing with this newly found fame? It must be weird right?
D: “Yes
very, see we’re used to being just some random people, so when people come up
to me and are like ‘I really like you’re songs and ask for a picture or
something its just weird and will probably just take time to adjust too”
And how are
you coping being the only girl in the band?
S: “well we’ve all been playing together since for about 5 years so im pretty used
to it all, I mean these guys still mess around a lot so I have to take control
and tell them all to buckle down and get to work”
So.. Kingg
Pleasuree II, how would you all describe it?
Dy:
“Simple. Noise”
B: “its
more than just noise. I would describe it as a mix of punk, stoner rock AND
Noise. Not just noise”
S:
“Amazing. That is all”
D “A mix of
everything, we have some punk, grunge, noise. We have it all”
You guys
are always compared to ‘Sonic Youth’ what do you think about it?
S: “FLATTERED! because Sonic Youth are one of our main influences, so its nice but
we dont want to be a copy of sonic youth. I’d describe us as a mix between Sonic Youth, The Pixies and Bad
Brains, with a hit of My Bloody Valentine and Velvet Underground. We love them
all!
And finally
what are your plans for the coming months.
B: “well we
all have smaller side projects we are all working on currently, they’re all
very different so we might just work on them for a bit and of course we have a
full UK Tour lined up for the start of the new year, so we are going to be
pretty busy. Don’t expect anything new from us for A WHILE!
D: “well im going to take it easy for a bit, im
glad that the pressure of a new album is
over, it was worth it though, and im looking forward to our FIRST official
tour. its crazy!”
S: “Same as Daij! Im looking forward to having a
break! i’ve been working non stop since we first got in the studio all those
months ago! so break first!”
Dy: Making the most of the time
I have to relax, get into the studio with my other band and hopefully produce
some new stuff before the Kingg Tour!”
In the coming weeks sees the
release of Kingg Pleasuree’s Second Album “Kingg Pleasuree II” (released
December 13th) which features collaborations with a range of artists
and musicians including Frances Parker, who
lends her unique vocals to the bands song ‘Brain-slip’ (which you can
exclusively hear! Scan the QR Code or Visit www.unpluggedmagazine.com/albums)
and a full blown uk tour starting January next year, we know for sure we will be
at a few shows! Sounds like Kingg Pleasuree are going to be extremely busy in the
coming months though we are sure it will be worth it!
Double Page Spread Images.
I have chosen to use these individual images of the band members to full to fill out the page. I will also use a caption of their name and the role they have in the band. I have decided to make these images black and white so they do not draw attention away from the main image of the band on my double page spread.
Contents Page Construction #4.
In this Final version of my Contents page i have added an extra subheading titled 'Tour Dates' and a list of bands and or artists who will be or are touring underneath, i imagined this page to be a kind of calendar styled if i were to create it. I have also added an extra design at the bottom of the page, i did this because i felt there was a lack of red on the page because of the large parts of white and black on the page. On this page i have also changed the section above the image of the band 'S&I' due to a spelling mistake and because i thought the newer coverline would make more sense.
Contents Page Construction #3.
In this updated version of my contents page i have shifted over the list of items that are inside my magazine to allow space for more. i have also added a small sticker looking icon to inform the readers which pages the cover stories are on, i got this idea by looking at Kerrang! magazine as they do this. I have added subscription information at the bottom to subscribe to the magazine. I have added more subheadings on the list of items at are inside. I have added 'Features' which will include interviews, and my main interview with the band (all advertised on the front page) I have also added a 'Feedback' subheading which will feature feedback from recent concerts from the Bands below.
Contents Page Construction #2.
In this updated version of my contents page i have added an web address underneath the date to remind readers of the magazines website. I have also added the masterhead onto the top of the page to show the content page is still related. On the left hand side i have added credit to the photographer for both images on the front cover and on the content page as previous magazines i have looked at include this. I have began to list the content with in my magazine however i am not yet finished, i will include other sections such as 'Posters' and 'Features and 'Live Reviews'. I original was going to include the editors note on the left hand side however i am going to move the editors note to the lower right hand side.At the top i have added an 'Inside this week' to show the audience what will feature inside.

Contents Page Construction.
Barcode.
I have taken this Barcode off the internet however i will be adding extra details on to it to make it more look authentic. I will be adding a price which will be £2.99 as my magazine is targeted at those added between 15-30 therefore the younger readers will not be in employment so i will keep the price lower to make sure it will be affordable. I will also be adding the issue detail such as the issue number. I will add these extra details on Photoshop.

Front Cover Construction 4.
In this version i have switched the positions of the list of featured bands and the smaller image in the corner which i have also added an coverline. i have also moved the Barcode up into the top banner as there is not any space left of it at the bottom and i have moved over the sticker shaped effect advertising the competition to win tickets to the festival.
Front Cover Construction 3.
In This updated version i have added more details of what will be included within my magazine such as interviews with many other bands. however i do not really like this layout at the bottom of the magazine therefore i will switch around the image and the list of bands interviewed within around and i may also more the barcode around too.
Album Artwork.
The album artwork above, i have created myself using a picture of myself and using effects such as liquify and the cutout option on filter gallery to create a kinda of plastic looking Doll look to relate to the name of the band i created 'Rehab Doll' (the band is named after a song by a band called Green River) and the name of the album.
The fonts i have used have been inspired by current albums from other bands. The font used on the title of the album "Doll Eyes" famously resembles the font used on the album by the Sex Pistols famous album "Nevermind the B*llocks heres to the Sex Pistols" as seen below
The Font used on the band name was a basic sketchy font however i add the 'O' on top of it to produce an effect similar to the font inspired by the band Hole used on their album 'Pretty On The Inside' as seen below.
Front Cover Construction 2.
This is an updated version of my Front Cover. i have filled in more detail such as the advertisement for the Free CD my magazine will be giving away, i have included an image of the featured CD included an album artwork i have created myself using a picture of myself and using effects such as liquify and filter gallery to create a kinda of plastic looking Doll look to relate to the name of the band i created 'Rehab Doll' (the band is named after a song by a band called Green River) and the name of the album.
In this updated version i have also added a coverline that states 'Music Just got noisier!' i chose to use this coverline as it is a play on words and relates with the genre of my featured band which will be noise. Also i have added the crown from the piece of artwork with the same name to explain the origin of the bands name.
In the lower left third i have began to add my smaller coverlines that informs the reader what is inside. I have added an image of another featured band i will be reporting on inside and will be using the coverline "Exclusive! On Set with The Cherry Bombs" (Name from a song by the band The Runaways" I have imagined the story to be about the band filming their latest music video and Unplugged getting and reporting on an unseen look at it. I my possibly change the position of this image depending if i have room left to include the list of bands that have been interviewed within.

Origin of Band Name.
This painting is by the Artist Jean Michael Basquiat, created in 1987 as part of Neo- Expressionism.
I have decided on this name for my featured band as all members are already in a band of the same name.
I have decided to use the Crown as a title over the 'I' in the bands name on the Front Cover, Content Page and Double Page Spread as a nod to the painting, original of the bands name and to the word 'King' look more interesting.
Details of my Band.
Name of Band: Kingg Pleassure (named after an piece of work by the artist Basquiat)
Members: There will be 4 member of my band (3 Male, 1 Female)
Article: For my journalistic writing i have decided to do an article introducing the audience to a new band named 'Kingg Pleasuree'. The article will feature details on the band such as musical influences from bands such as: Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, The Pixies, Bad Brains and Velvet underground.
Genre: The chose genre of my band will be Noise with is a sub genre of Rock music which still relates to the genre of my magazine.
Other: In my article i will also use a QR Code which can be scanned to link the readers phone or other technology to stream the bands new album.
Possible Images.
These are the 4 main images that are suitable for using in my Music magazine. I will be using 3 of these images on each page i have to create (Front Cover, Content and Double Page Spread)
I have chosen these four images because they look like a professional band photo-shoot that would be featured in magazine such as NME, Kerrang! and Q.

Magazine Pitch- Audience feedback.
Once I have completed my magazine pitch I asked the audience for feedback. The feedback I recieved was not much however the small pieces of information where helpful for me to continue to create my music magazine.
Feedback:
Feedback:
- The Layout: My audience like the house styles i produced and helped me to decide which one would look the best for each page.
- Masthead: In my pitch i included three choices of masthead i would be happen which using, my audience suggested which one i should use for my music magazine.
- Colour Sheme: The Audience original like the three colours i would be using (white, black and red) however suggested i tone down the brightness of the red so it does not look to bright and tacky.

Masthead Design.
I
have chosen this style of font to consider to use for my music magazine because
it has a kind of distressed and faded look about it with suit well with the
theme of my music magazine as rock music is associated with this kind of style.
I
have chosen this style of
Masthead to consider
to use for my music magazine because it is in the same font as the logo for the
rock band ‘Iron Maiden’. I think this font could work because it is in the
style of rock music and is recognisable by fans of the genre.
I
have chosen this style of masthead to consider to use for my music magazine
because it is
the same font as logo of the rock band ‘Led Zeppelin’ I think this masthead
could work as it is in the style of
rock music and is recognizable by fans of the genre.
Magazine House Style: Double Page Spread
I
have created 3 different variations of the possible layout I would want for my
music magazine Double
Page Spread. Out
of the three designs I have decided on using the third version for the layout for my music
magazine.
